Titration is a laboratory method used to determine the concentration of an unknown solution. In titration, a solution of known concentration, called the standard solution, is slowly added to the unknown solution until the reaction between the two is complete. The amount of standard solution needed to complete the reaction is used to calculate the concentration of the unknown solution. Different types of titration include acid-base titration, redox titration, and complexometric titration, among others. Titration is commonly used in chemistry, biochemistry, and in the analysis of pharmaceuticals, food products, and wastewater.
